Head to Toe - Les Mis
Last night was so. much. fun. My valentine and I arrived early for the show which made for excellent people watching since everyone was all fancied up. Something makes me so irrationally happy to see people dressed in their best. We surveyed the dapper crowd from the balcony while sipping on a cocktail. I opted for the one of the signature Les Mis cocktails, Stars, which was a flute of champagne mixed with a dash of pomegranate juice and garnished with a strawberry.
Oh and I almost forgot! As we entered the building, we were greeted with a joyful Bonjour! by a man holding the door dressed in a black suit and a matching top hat. I was tickled pink. How fitting!
So of course the show was wonderful in every possible way. My favorite number was Master of the House as the iconic, I Dreamed A Dream, was just okay for me. Although the Thénardiers were the most entertaining, the real show stopper was Jean Valjean. His voice was incredible, and he could hold a note for what seemed like infinity. Javert being right behind him. Oh and the orchestra! Hats off to the orchestra! As a former band geek, I just couldn’t get enough. Since we were early, we got to hear them tune and warm up their instruments. I gotta say…they must have quite the stamina to play a nearly three-hour long show.

As for the messy room behind me, I don’t have a valid reason unless you consider cocktailing (that’s too legit to quit) a good excuse. And yes, my obsession with pencil skirts continues. There’s just something I dig about a good pencil skirt. Oh and one more thing. I’m a bit wrinkly from a long day’s work. It happens. C’est la vie.
